Back in 1968 I pledged Kappa Theta Gamma Fraternity at MCC. Joe was our Faculty Advisor. He was much like a father figure to us - maybe a mischievous one though. Always quick with a wry joke but wonderful at guiding young men through their start of life. He will be missed. Truly missed. Mike Warner

I will remember him fondly. He was kind to me when I came to Rochester in 1971, friendless, alone and angry at the world. He calmed me, directed my anger to good purpose and offered friendship and a good example.Yan3r

I am truly sorry for your loss. Your uncle will be missed and he will never be forgotten.
I had the honor of caring for Mr.Baker for almost a decade. He was like family to me. A very kind gentleman, inspirational, an enormous sense of humor in which I appreciated. I loved to laugh @ his jokes & sing along to him playing his tuba. His presence was like the gift that kept on giving. I especially admired Joe's gentle spirit & loving nature. He touched many lives, a giving person of great character. Rest in peace my friend.
You're in my thoughts & prayers.
With love, Renee ❤

Mr. Baker was a wonderful man. He was kind, caring and funny. He was always a gentleman and could always make me laugh. I had the distinct pleasure of being Mr. Baker’s care manager for many years for Comfort Keepers. I fondly remember many talks with Mr. Baker and his sister Carolyn, who cared deeply for her brother. Carolyn had a wonderful sense of humor like her brother. Mr. Baker and I had long talks about all of the interesting things he did in his life and the many friends he had.
My condolences to his nieces Rachel and Randi, and their families. They tirelessly advocated for their Uncle Granville.
He was a gentleman and a kind and gentle person. I picture him playing his tuba and smiling. I will miss him.
Sincerely,
Donna Clare Davern
