Obituary of Virginia Longo

October 2, 2024, our beloved Aunt Virginia Longo passed away peacefully after a very long and successful life of 99 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Olimpio and Julia Falcetti; mother and father-in-law, Luigi and Flavia Longo; her husband of almost 69 years, Joseph Longo; and all the in-laws of her age group, as well as nephew, Anthony Tarana.

Virginia’s life was marked by devotion to family, country and God. She brought integrity, dedication, and excellence to every endeavor and relationship and achieved the status of Secretary to the Superintendent of the Rochester City School District due to her excellence in performance. Virginia never had children of her own but was a major figure in the life of all her nieces and nephews and their families who cherish their memories of time spent with her and Uncle Joe, including Jeffrey Kolwalski who lived with them for a couple years as a young boy after his mom died. Her father died early in life but her devotion to her mother and in-laws was unlimited. She took care of their every need.

We would like to publicly thank the entire staff at the Maplewood Nursing Home for their extraordinary compassion and competency as they cared for her with kindness and dignity these last six and a half years of her life. A brief visitation for those wishing to say a final goodbye to Virginia will be held from 9-10AM Tuesday, October 8, at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 8 at St. Rita’s Church, 1008 Maple Drive, Webster. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a charity of your choice.
