Obituary of Willard "George" Maxwell
Willard “George” Maxwell, 91, of Webster New York (formerly of Ozark, AL), passed from this life Monday, December 16, 2024, with family by his side at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY.
George was born September 3, 1933 in Neosho, Missouri the son of Melvin Mark Maxwell (Newton, Missouri) and Ruth Ellen Fulkerson Maxwell of (McNatt, Missouri) being the eldest of 7 children.
He was an officer of the Kansas City Police Department; a member of the United States Armed Forces (Army) from 1953 to 1984 retiring as a CW4, continuing to work with private companies in the aviation field and served as a reserve deputy in the Dale County Sheriff’s Department.
He is survived by his daughters Gwendolynne Louise Maxwell (Tom) and Colleen Joy Conner, 7 grandchildren; Robert Travis Downs (Denise), Christopher Matthew Downs (Cheryl), Jennifer Rebecca Pannell (Todd), Angela Carter (Casey), Michelle Diane Carnahan (Jacob), Charles Thomas Wiederhold (Carly) and Caitlin Engelman (Matt); 12 great-grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Downs, Jacob George Downs. Ashley Gwendolynne Downs, Christopher William Pannell, Georgia Catherine Downs, Gillian Corrine Downs, Emily Megan Seal, David Michael McGee, Skylar Morgan Greenwood, Cayleigh Nicole Carter, Cambrie Alysse Carter and Evelyn Carnahan; 2 brothers; Wilbur James Maxwell (Barbara) and Melvin Wayne Maxwell (Susan) an 1 sister Judy Ellen Maxwell Cavaliero (Tom).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Ruth Maxwell, daughter, Brenda Diane Maxwell Smith, brothers Robert Maxwell (Ruth Ann), William Maxwell (Scott) and Jerry Maxwell (Kitty) and grandson, Samuel Ethan Downs.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Avenue, Webster with visitation beginning at 12 noon until 2 pm and service immediately following. The graveside service with Military Honors at Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY, will be at a time to be announced.
